Sheeraz Hasan Honored With Best Business Achievement Award

During its bi-annual Global Mainstream Media Award ceremony at the University of Leicester in London, England, last week, the Triangle Media Group (TMG) honored Sheeraz Hasan by presenting him with the Best Business Achievement Award for his outstanding entrepreneurial leadership as Founder/CEO of www.Hollywood.tv, Hollywood's leading entertainment portal.

The Triangle Media Group's global awards was founded by Australian media tycoon and legal scholar David Flint. The TMG awards, which were launched in 2003, have been supported by some of the biggest Politicians in the world, including Tessa Jowell, UK Minister for Culture Media and Sport. Jowell said: "I was so interested to read about the Triangle Media Group Alliance for foreign artists and I am delighted to say, the excellence and quality of Britain's cultural and sporting activities ensure that our reputation for creativity and innovation is renowned worldwide."

Since its founding, the Triangle Media Group has recognized, honored and celebrated the achievements of the most outstanding South Asians in its annual awards, by highlighting the achievements of these top achievers to the global mainstream media, and recognizing them for their outstanding worldwide contributions. Haresh Sood, who is the Global Ambassador of the awards, made the presentations. Haresh Sood said 'It was a splendid evening which was very well received which showcased the crème de la crème of South Asian talent to a non South Asian audience in an academic environment,' Sood said. "TMG prides itself to be unlike any other awarding ceremonies and proud to announce that it is precisely this sort of evening that we need more of to get the quality of our artistes seen and heard about."

"Being recognized with the Best Achievement Award for Business, was a tremendous thrill, especially when I was being honored in my home country, England," Sheeraz said. "I am honored that I am being recognized as Founder of Hollywood.tv. We've built the bridge between Hollywood and Bollywood, the two biggest film industries in the world with Hollywood representing 3.6 billion worldwide fans and Bollywood representing 3.8 billion worldwide fans. In 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006 I have received numerous government awards for building that bridge and also for representing Hollywood to billions of people around the world. What better way to end the year than to receive the Best Business Achievement Award from such a highly esteemed organization such as TMG."

Sheeraz's remarkable journey began in London in 1991, when at the age of 16 he dropped out of school to take over his family's struggling restaurant business. Renaming it the Tinseltown Cafe, he turned it into a 24-hour Hollywood-themed eatery, and before long, it was a thriving success. Then, with no experience, skills, or contacts in the entertainment business, he decided to move to Hollywood with only a small amount of money from his family to get him started. While making his prayers at the famed Hollywood sign, Sheeraz's chance encounter with Rowland Perkins, founder of Creative Artists' Agency, the biggest talent agency in the world, catapulted him into the Hollywood movie scene. Within weeks, he had his own TV show and was covering film premieres and interviewing the biggest celebrities on the red carpet, and today Tom Cruise calls Sheeraz "The American Dream" and The Most Beautiful women in the world Aishwarya Rai says "Sheeraz is the connection between Hollywood and Bollywood."

Avoiding gossip or celebrity scandal, Sheeraz focused on spreading a message of spirituality by asking the stars about their religious beliefs and spiritual lives and encouraging them to use their fame to make the world a better place. Within 18 months of his arrival in the United States, Fortune Magazine, the world's premier business magazine, devoted a four-page spread to Sheeraz, featuring him alongside the billionaire Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin and the richest man in the world, Microsoft founder Bill Gates. Sheeraz was given the "Hall of Fame" award at the 2004 Indian Telly Awards, the most prestigious television award show in India, for connecting Hollywood and Bollywood together. He was also named Hollywood Ambassador to the Middle East at the 2004 Arabian Music awards in Dubai, and the One Night Foundation named him their Humanitarian Communicator of the Year for his work in promoting their efforts to fight AIDS in India.

On July 4 of last year, during America's Independence Day, Sheeraz launched www.Hollywood.tv, the ultimate web domain, as Hollywood is a multi-billion dollar brand recognized all over the world in every language. Sheeraz calls this global empire, "The New Hollywood", where all the global stars are united in one destination.

Earlier this year, Sheeraz launched his personal autobiography, "Sheeraz: The Muslim American Dream", an emotional, spiritual and gripping love story that chronicles his rags to riches success story in America and his efforts to create a positive image for Muslims around the world.

The book recently received the highly esteemed "Best Autobiography" award at the 2006 Bollywood Awards, which were held in Trinidad before a live audience of 20,000 and millions of television viewers worldwide. The autobiography later earned Sheeraz the coveted Dr. Zakir Hussain Award, named after the former President of India, for "Outstanding Contribution to the Arts" at the 59th Anniversary of India's Independence Day in August of this year at the world renowned Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles. The event was attended by numerous prominent worldwide dignitaries and leaders. The award was presented to Sheeraz by United States Senator John Kerry. Moreover, California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger compared his own rags to riches success story in America to Sheeraz's success story in America when he stated that they "Were both examples of the shining reality of the American Dream."

In 2007, Sheeraz, along with his business partner and co-founder of Hollywood.tv, Paresh A. Shah, have jointly founded and will launch www.Sports.tv. Both partners have a vision of bringing together the best in international sports by providing an online destination that unites all sports and athletes from every country around the globe. "The future of the Internet is television," Sheeraz explained. "Two of the most popular things in the world that people pretty much cannot live without are entertainment and sports. Our goal is to be the number one portal, with a 24-hour on-demand sports channel covering international sports to over one billion people around the world."

Top Silicon Valley analysts have stated that both www.Hollywood.tv and www.Sports.tv will become multi-Billion-dollar media companies. Since coming to America, Sheeraz's journey has brought him full circle, from reporting on the headlines, to making them. He has garnered scores of awards, graced the covers of the largest newspapers and magazines, has been featured on the biggest TV shows around the world, and made fortunes from his successful media ventures. Now Sheeraz is creating history by representing both Sports and Entertainment to over 1 Billion people around the world.

Hindu Doctor Sponsors 25,000 Copies of Sheeraz's Book - The Muslim American Dream

Dr Arjun Daluvoy, a prominent Southern California cardiovascular surgeon was so moved by Sheeraz Hasan's "The Muslim American Dream," that he agreed to distribute 25,000 copies of the book.

Dr Arjun Daluvoy, a prominent Southern California cardiovascular surgeon who also heads World Entertainment Media Company, was so moved by Sheeraz’s memoirs, "The Muslim American Dream," that he agreed to distribute 25,000 copies of the book.

“I am a devout Hindu, but as soon as I found out about this sponsorship programme after reading Sheeraz’s wonderful autobiography, I was inspired to give away 25,000 copies on my own behalf as a personal way to foster peace and harmony among all the religions,” he said.
With the India and Pakistan Independence Day festivals being held throughout Southern California next month, Daluvoy announced that he will be giving Sheeraz’s autobiography away free to thousands of people.

“As a Hindu, he is embracing a Muslim,” Sheeraz Hasan exclaimed. “Dr Daluvoy believes so much in our efforts to build a positive image of Muslims around the world and finds my story so inspiring that he wants to let as many people as possible know that anyone can live the American Dream.”

Sheeraz added, “In light of the recent bombings in India and the ongoing skirmishes between Hindus and Muslims, it is extremely important to spread the word that Islam is a peaceful religion with millions of peaceful followers and that Muslims and Hindus can peacefully live together. Our goal is to build bridges between all communities, and through the book’s sponsorships, the book, and our message, will be distributed to people of all religious backgrounds.”

At a recent event, Daluvoy was present when Hasan was signing autographed copies of his book and hundreds of people went away happy and wanted to read the inspirational story. “When Dr Daluvoy saw that, he told me right then and there that he wanted to be a sponsor,” said Sheeraz.

Since its June 10 unveiling at the 2006 Bollywood Awards, where it won the Best Autobiography Award, thousands of copies of Sheeraz’s "The Muslim American Dream" have been distributed and sales continue to climb daily. Since the popularity of the book increased so quickly, sponsorships are now available for entrepreneurial individuals and companies who wish to have a promotional tool that will last forever.

“This is my mission,” Sheeraz said. “Unlike magazines and newspapers, a book is a personal treasure, and I can guarantee that when you give someone my book, they will keep that book for life.”

“I’m really happy that Dr Daluvoy sponsored the book, and I can guarantee him that every time someone picks up my book his company logo will be on the cover, there is no other way to get better branding than that,” said Sheeraz. “Whether the book is at someone’s home, office, car or even their bedroom, the book will be right there for all to read.”

Just as Dr Daluvoy plans to do, other sponsors can distribute the books at cultural and religious festivals, charity events and fundraisers as well as through mosques, churches, temples, gurdwaras and synagogues, which are ideal places to offer the book where multitudes of people congregate.

Those interested in sponsoring Sheeraz’s "The Muslim American Dream" can go to www.sheeraz.com for more information.

Sheeraz at the Hollywood Bowl with AR Rahman

Bollywood Night with AR Rahman at the prestigious outdoor Hollywood Bowl, summer home of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, presented the world acclaimed Indian icon to an ecstatic audience of 18,000 fans.

The prestigious outdoor Hollywood Bowl, summer home of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, presented the world acclaimed Indian icon Allah Rakha Rahman to an ecstatic audience of 18,000 fans. The audience was made up of 70% Americans and 30% South Asians. The show, titled ‘Bollywood Night with AR Rahman’, was organized by KCRW World Festival and sold out days ahead of the event.

The physical presence of maestro AR Rahman, an innovative orchestra, distinguished singers, Bhangra dancers, Bollywood movie clips, juxtaposed with guest artistes, exploring dance and musical styles, was a powerful, visceral experience, and one to be cherished for years to come. The program was hosted by Tom Schnabel, Program Director of World Music. Although Indian artists have been featured in the past, this was the Hollywood Bowl's first night completely dedicated to the music and culture of India.

Sheeraz Hasan founder of www.Hollywood.tv was present at the show with his friends from Warner Bros, Fox, and Universal Studios who were so impressed with the performances that they discussed how great it would be if a touch of Bollywood was present at the 2007 Oscars.

Sheeraz said that the American audience was completely blown away by the show; they had never seen anything like it. Many Americans came dressed in Indian outfits and danced enthusiastically. People were saying ‘move over Britney Spears and J-Lo, Bollywood Rocks!’. The most popular song of the evening was ‘Chaiyya Chaiyya’ performed by Sukhwinder Singh. Images of the movie with Shahrukh Khan were projected onto giant screens, and the crowds erupted.

Rahman opened the show by telling the audience, “When I left Chennai for London several years ago to work on the musical ‘Bombay Dreams,’ everyone congratulated me for going to Hollywood. I tried to explain that I was going to London, not Hollywood, but they didn’t understand. So those people who misinterpreted London for Hollywood, would be very happy to see me here today.”

The Rahman extravaganza with its arsenal of instruments, synthesisers, guitars, dholaks, keyboards and inspired singing transcended musical boundaries and featured Sukhwinder Singh, Hariharan, Sadhana Sargam, Madhushree, Musafir and Anisha Nagarajan, star of the hit musical Bombay Dreams.

“Popular entertainers including Cher, Frank Sinatra, the Beatles, Pink Floyd, Judy Garland and Jimi Hendrix have all performed at the Hollywood Bowl in the past, and it was truly a historic night as Bollywood came to Hollywood in great style,” said Sheeraz.

Sheeraz Hasan Wins Bollywood Award For Autobiography Sheeraz – The Muslim American Dream

Sheeraz Hasan, CEO and founder of www.hollywood.tv, was presented with the Best Autobiography Award at the 2006 Bollywood Awards June 10 in Trinidad for “Sheeraz – the Muslim American Dream.”

June 13, 2006 -- Before an audience of 20,000 people and another 250 million viewers in 130 countries around the world, Hollywood.TV CEO and founder Sheeraz Hasan was presented with the Best Autobiography Award at the 2006 Bollywood Awards June 10 in Trinidad.

The annual award show, which attracts superstars Aishwarya Rai and Shah Rukh Khan along with some of the other biggest names in Bollywood, served as the official launch for his inspirational and spiritual rags to riches autobiography “Sheeraz - the Muslim American Dream.”

Making the announcement in a May 1 press release, Kamal Dandona, chairman of the Bollywood Awards, declared: “On this historic occasion, on behalf of myself and the entire Bollywood Awards committee, it is my absolute privilege to honor the multiple award winning author Sheeraz Hasan not only for the tremendous success of his autobiography, ‘Sheeraz – The Muslim American Dream,’ but also for being a positive role model for Muslims around the world.”

This is the third consecutive year that Sheeraz has been awarded for his accomplishments. Last year, The Bollywood Group, Inc., which operates the Bollywood Awards out of New York, appointed Sheeraz the official “Hollywood Ambassador to Bollywood” and, in 2004, Bollywood honored him with the “American Dream” award.

Tom Cruise has called him the American Dream personified, but Sheeraz embodies the American Dream with a unique twist. When he came to Los Angeles in January of 2002, Sheeraz arrived with little more than a vague dream of wanting to spread a positive message about Islam. After months of struggling, selling cookies and peddling flowers to support himself, he hit upon an ambitious idea: a television show that bridged the divide between East and West.

Ambitious, yet humble, Sheeraz was truly a visionary. With only $4,000 to his name, but lacking in any technical training or entertainment experience, he created his Tinseltown weekly program. But it was no ordinary television show. Once he broke open the doors of Hollywood, Sheeraz gained access to some of the biggest stars in the film industry. In his interviews, he asked stars like Eddy Murphy, Tom Hanks, Goldie Hawn, Queen Latifah, Pierce Brosnan and Christina Aguilera a very simply question: “What has God meant in your life?”

The show’s spiritual theme catapulted his Tinseltown television show into an immediate hit around the world and turned the 29-year-old entrepreneur into a Hollywood institution. For his accomplishments in bringing two worlds closer than ever, Sheeraz has since been presented with several prestigious awards and accolades. But until now, no one has known the true story of the hardships and heartbreaks he endured as he struggled daily to achieve his own spiritual quest.

In “Sheeraz: The Muslim American Dream,” he chronicles how, against all odds, he embarked on a journey that truly became the all-American rags-to-riches saga that heralds the entrepreneurial spirit that is the driving force of America’s prosperity. More importantly, he sheds for the first time a personal light on how his deep devotion to Islam and unwavering faith in God ultimately proved to be the guiding force of his success.

Sheeraz’ success is rooted in overcoming personal loss. A native of London, he was only 16 years old when his father suddenly passed away, forcing him to leave school and take over the family’s ailing cafe. Through faith, prayer and a sheer determination based on quotes from the Koran, Sheeraz eventually built the small café into the most successful 24-hour restaurant in London.

Hungry from his first taste of success, Sheeraz decided to pursue his dreams in America, where, buoyed by the inspiration he found while on Hajj in Mecca, he was intent on follow his calling to help people and spread spirituality in the entertainment capitol of the world. To that end, his autobiography also includes an informative section called “Understanding Islam.”

“Not only do the readers get to see my struggles and success, but they also get to understand first hand what Islam really is,” Sheeraz explains. “There are 1.6 billion Muslims in the world, and there aren’t that many positive role models. All along, I’ve wanted to be that role model in the mainstream market, especially in Hollywood and America, showing that Islam is such a beautiful religion and that Muslims are very peaceful people.”

Sheeraz’ success story has been featured on the largest television shows in the world, and told in the biggest international newspapers and magazines. After only 18 months of arriving in the United States, Fortune Magazine, the world’s premier business magazine, devoted a four-page spread to Sheeraz, featuring him alongside billionaire Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin, and the richest man in the world, Microsoft chairman Bill Gates.

Meanwhile, the tremendous success of his Tinseltown television show in recent years has allowed him to create the Hollywood.TV website, an online portal for Hollywood entertainment, bringing Internet users a direct line to the entertainment capitol of the world.

“We’ve moved everything online to reach a billion people, Sheeraz pointed out. “That’s our goal, to represent Hollywood and fill a gap where artists around the world, whether it is Shah Rukh Khan or Aishwarya Rai, can have a voice in the mainstream media through our website.”

Those who subscribe to it “are calling it the Google of Hollywood,” he added. “That means that anyone who accesses our website can type in a celebrity’s name, and in a fraction of a second they will get hundreds, if not thousands of clips about that person from around the world.”

As of now, the website has a thousand television shows a visitor can watch on demand. “The next thing we’re going to do is to have streaming movies on demand,” Sheeraz announced. “In other words, Hollywood.TV will become the Blockbuster of the Internet.”

“Sheeraz: The Muslim American Dream” can be purchased for $29.95 on Amazon.com.
